Description
African Cherry, known locally as Muiri (Prunus africana), is an indigenous evergreen tree found in Kenya's highland forests. Its bark has been used for generations in traditional medicine and is the source of a compound used globally in treatments for prostate conditions. Due to overharvesting in the wild, the species is now protected in many regions, making sustainably nursery-grown seedlings especially important for reforestation, agroforestry, and future sustainable bark harvesting.
